Wall of Honor Recognizes County Veterans

The Bolivar-Hardeman County Library “Wall of Honor” is a collage of servicemen and servicewomen from Hardeman County who served and gave in the name of country, so Americans can have the freedoms they now enjoy.

The display was erected in 2021 by Vanessa Lambert, Bolivar-Hardeman County Library History Room Clerk, as a temporary exhibit that grew from a small number of pictures and now covers a full wall at the library, and is growing.

Veterans, living and deceased, who served in World War I, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Iraq, and Afghanistan wars are currently represented. The library would like to have pictures of county veterans from as many different wars as possible.

“We hope all veterans and families will feel welcome in the library and know we honor them and remember their sacrifices,” said Hannah Thompson, Bolivar-Hardeman County Library Program Coordinator. “We take all pictures of Hardeman County veterans, preferably in uniform.”

If you are a military veteran who served in any capacity (or know of someone who did – whether they are living or deceased), the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library would like to add your picture to the “Wall of Honor” to recognize your service.

When submitting a photograph, include the name of the person, branch of military service, and the years of service. Pictures and information can be e-mailed to the library or brought to the library in person to 213 North Washington Street, Bolivar, 38008.

The “Wall of Honor” is available to view during library hours. For more information, you may call the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library at (731) 658-3436.
