Hornsby Seeks Candidates to Fill Mayor Vacancy

The Hornsby Board of Alderman are seeking candidates to serve as Interim Mayor for the remainder of the previous Mayor’s term.

Previous Hornsby Mayor, Megan Hedwall, abruptly and immediately resigned her position two minutes into the regularly scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. In her resignation, Hedwall stated, “Due to these acts of harmful, divisive and illegal dictates, I have been forced to make a most honorable decision at this time.”

Citizens interested in serving out the mayor’s term must live within the Hornsby city limits. Letters of interest may be placed in the night deposit box, e-mailed to mw.cityofhornsby@yahoo.com, or mailed to PO Box 58, Hornsby, Tennessee 38044.

The Interim Mayor will be nominated at the Tuesday, April 4, 2023, regular scheduled board meeting. The mayoral appointment would fill the remainder of the term until the next Hornsby election in November 2024, when the mayor’s position and all five aldermen will be up for election.
