Obituary: Jack Taylor – Medon, Tennessee
Jack Taylor ~ February 17, 1938 – November 11, 2022
Jack Taylor, 84, of Medon, departed this life Friday, November 11, 2022, at his home.
The husband of Ann Hardin Taylor, whom he married on February 17, 1958. Mr. Taylor worked for 22 years as an operations technician with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), retiring in 2003. He was born February 17, 1938, in Medon, son of the late L.J. Taylor and Mattie Aliene Hodge Taylor and lived his whole life here. In his younger years, he worked as a logger and enjoyed being outside. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing but held his greatest love for being around his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved. Mr. Taylor was a member and deacon for over 30 years at New Union Baptist Church and was caretaker of the cemetery there for many years.
Graveside services are on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at New Union Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar are in charge of professional
arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Taylor of Medon; two daughters, Debbie King (Richard) of Medon and Brenda Slaughter of Jackson; three grandchildren, Jessica Phillips (Nathan), Daniel King (Michelle), and Celeste Slaughter; and eight great grandchildren, Abbie, Rylee, Joslyn, Jacob, Olivia, Charlie Ann, Hazel, and Christopher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Taylor; a son-in-law, Nathan Slaughter; two infant sisters and a brother, Frank Taylor. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to New Union Baptist Church.
