Jackson Police Department Issue Update on Wallace Road Shooting
[Jackson, TN] On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, around 9:30 am, the Jackson Police Department, in partnership with the United States Marshals, apprehended Tarcus Wilkes. Wilkes is the third suspect who has been charged in the Wallace Road shooting that occurred on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. In this incident, five victims, including a two-year-old child, were shot and tragically the child succumbed to his injuries.
“The combination of continued tips from the community, the use of law enforcement technology, the tireless efforts of our investigative staff, and teamwork between the Jackson Police Department and the United States Marshals Service has led to the successful apprehension of Tarcus Wilkes. We will continue to employ collaborative strategies in this case as we partner with the District Attorney’s Office to prosecute those charged with committing this horrendous crime. I again ask our community to keep the victims, and their families, in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate the days and weeks ahead,” said Chief Thom Corley.
Marshal Tyreece Miller, who commented earlier on the impact citizen involvement had on the capture of DeAndre Perry on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, shared some words.
“We realize that no arrest can replace the tragic loss of an innocent life, but it is our hope that holding those responsible for this crime will help the family and community in the healing process,” said Marshal Tyreece Miller.
Wilkes is set to be formally charged in Jackson City Court on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in the morning. If anyone has any additional information about this incident, please contact the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-8400.
