JSCC Adds Anderson and Robinson to its Basketball Roster
When Jackson State Community College (JSCC) men’s basketball team begins its season on Saturday, November 2, 2024, both Bolivar Central High School (BCHS) and Middleton High School (MHS) will be represented as Jamarion Anderson (#24) and RJ Robinson (#0), respectively, step onto the court for their first year playing as Green Jays. The move by both players to JSCC brings them closer to home and their Hardeman County fan base to cheer them on this season.
Anderson and Robinson, both Class of 2023 graduates from their high schools, headed to Columbia State Community College after graduation to start their college careers as students and basketball players. They both had success previously while playing in high school and shared recognition in 2022 as MVPs when they played at the Anfernee “Tuck” Lewis Invitational Play Day. JSCC men’s basketball coach Cameron Cates has already recognized the talent of both players and is looking forward to coaching them during the season.
“RJ and Jamarion will both be playing guard spots,” said coach Cates. “Both of them shoot the ball so well that they will definitely help with putting the ball in the hole. They also compete with high energy which speaks to their upbringing and their experiences in high school.”
Coach Cates has yet to name the team starters but expects both players will be big contributors to the success of the team this year.
“Both RJ and Jamarion are good young men. It has been a blessing to coach them so far,” said coach Cates, who noted all of the players have been working hard to prepare for the season. “I’m excited for our team to show how hard they have worked and how talented of a group they can be.”
Morgan Talley, an MHS Class of 2024 graduate, will also take the court this season in her first year playing basketball as a JSCC Lady Green Jays.
