Lee Sammons Retires After 20 Years with UT Extension

After 20 Years of dedicated service to the citizens of Hardeman County, as a part of the University of Tennessee Extension and Tennessee State University Cooperative Extension, Lee Sammons retired on December 31, 2023.

A reception to honor Lee’s achievements, contributions, and lasting impact on UT Extension and Hardeman County was held in December.

A reception to honor Lee’s achievements, contributions, and lasting impact on UT Extension and Hardeman County was held on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Many well wishes were shared during the retirement reception, including the following from Hardeman County 4-H Extension agent Gary Rodgers,

“You have been a tremendous asset to the Hardeman County community over your 20-plus years of service to UT and TSU Extension. Your knowledge of horticulture and landscapes will be hard to replace. Your commitment to homeowners and commercial clientele alike is unmatched. You are a great coworker and the Hardeman County Extension staff will miss you tremendously, but wish you the best in your well deserved retirement!”

You may still find Mr. Sammons at his green house offering locals a great selection of annuals, herbs, vegetable plants, perennials, ferns, and flowering baskets from April through July. Lee’s Greenhouse is located at 525 Sammons Road in Whiteville, Tennessee.
