District Attorney General Mark Davidson Elected to Lead Tennessee District Attorneys

FAYETTE, HARDEMAN, LAUDERDALE, MCNAIRY, and TIPTON COUNTIES, Tenn. – Mark Davidson, 25th District Attorney General, has been elected by fellow members of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference (TNDAGC) to serve as Vice President on the organization’s Executive Committee. In this position, General Davidson will play a crucial role in guiding the overall administration of justice in Tennessee.

“It has been an honor and distinction to serve as Conference Secretary for the last year,” stated General Davidson. “I look forward to serving as Vice President this next year and continue to further our Public Safety and Justice efforts for our Great State and West Tennessee.”

“The Executive Committee is at the heart of every decision we make in our work to improve public safety and provide for a more prompt and efficient administration of justice throughout this great state,” explained TNDAGC Executive Director, Stephen Crump. “I’m confident General Davidson will uphold this responsibility admirably.”

General Davidson started his career as a prosecutor straight out of law school in 1992 when District Attorney Betsy Rice hired him as an Assistant District Attorney in the 25th Judicial District. He began prosecuting cases in Tipton County, and within a year, General Rice made him the lead and only prosecutor in Lauderdale County. General Davidson later went to work for the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office handling criminal cases on appeal and eventually death penalty cases.

He was able to return to the District Attorney’s Office in 2011 as General Michael Dunavant’s Deputy District Attorney before being appointed District Attorney General in September of 2017. He was then elected District Attorney in 2018 and reelected in 2022.

The Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference was created by the General Assembly in 1961 to provide for a more prompt and efficient administration of justice in the courts of the state. It is composed of the elected District Attorneys General from the state’s 32 judicial districts.
