Master Gardeners Recognized at Holiday Awards Banquet

Hardeman County UT Extension Master Gardeners recently held its Holiday Awards Banquet honoring members for their dedication and achievements.

The Tennessee Extension Master Gardener program trains and certifies volunteers who provide community service through the county extension office. All volunteers are trained with 40 hours of horticultural classes and return 40 hours of volunteer community service through their extension office and local Master Gardener association.

During the banquet, Ann Zaller was named Master Gardener of the Year for 2023.

Master Gardeners recognized for 10 years of service to the community were Barb Oliger, Maggie Barrowclough, Ken Johnson, Mary Jane Boals, Mike Gowdy, Durwood Baxter, and Ann Zaller.

Members recognized with over 100 hours of service in 2023 were Barb Oliger, Ann Zaller, and Angie Rose.

The Hardeman County Master Gardeners meet the second Monday of each month at the Extension Office at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about the program is invited to attend. Upcoming speakers include Jason Reeves, Jim Crowder, and Lee Sammons.
