Accomplishments and issues facing Hardeman County were the topics of discussion at last week’s meeting of the Hardeman County Republican Party.

Guests were served a complimentary BBQ dinner from Backwoods Restaurant before County Mayor Todd Pulse, who was the guest speaker, gave an update on the top issues facing the county. He also celebrated the achievements of the county since he has taken office, including the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department taking over the litter grant. Pulse reported the Sheriff’s Department and trustees have picked up over 100,000 pounds of litter since the transition. He also happily reported the landfill was back in compliance and open to taking trash again. Mayor Pulse was also proud the county had a balanced budget, which was approved at the county commission meeting on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Some of the current issues facing the county that were discussed included lawsuits, tax rate, workforce development, and county growth. Mayor Pulse took time to answer questions from those in attendance before the conclusion of the meeting.

The Hardeman County Republican Party regularly invites community leaders to speak. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 6 p.m. at Brick’s Café, 100 South Main in Bolivar. Everyone is welcome to attend.
