Mayors Proclaim April as Autism Awareness Month
Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic and Hardeman County Mayor Todd Pulse both recently signed proclamations in honor of National Autism Awareness Month.
The proclamation stated, in part, “Autism is the result of a neurological disorder that causes a wide range of impairments in social communication and restricted and repetitive behaviors and can affect anyone. Autism is the fastest growing development disability in the United States effecting more than three million people per year. Symptoms of Autism are diagnosed in a variety of combinations and can result in significant lifelong impacts of an individual’s ability to learn, develop healthy interactive behaviors, and understand verbal and nonverbal communications. In recognition of the growing needs of Autism and the need to provide services to help individuals and families who are affected, Hardeman County is honored to take part in the annual observance of Autism Awareness Month in hope that it will lead to a better understanding of the disorder.”
Mayor McTizic presented a proclamation to Chandler Smith during the April meeting of the Bolivar City Council.
Mayor Pulse presented a proclamation to Mayor McTizic during the April meeting of the County Commission in support of his child’s recent autism diagnosis.
