Middleton High School Highlights

By Kayleigh Maxwell, Hatchie Press Middleton High School Student Reporter

In these upcoming weeks, Middleton High School (MHS) will soon be saying goodbye to its 2022-2023 football season. On Friday, October 21, 2022, we will have our senior night watching the boys play against Alcorn Central High School followed by the last game of the season against Middle College High School on Friday, October 28, 2022. The boys played a hard and exciting season, and we can not wait for the next season to arrive.

Our seniors for this year are #62 Veldasa Davis, #55 Blake Edgeston, #48 Wes Ross, #30 Devin Salto, #11 Jordan Stewart, #19 Aden Untharindr, #74 James Valentine, #87 Aj Watkins, and #36 Andy Woods. Coach James Davis Jr. had this to say to his team, “Everything this football program achieves in the future is possible because of the work you boys put in this year. Good luck with whatever you choose to do in the future, and remember nothing worth having comes easy.”

As football is coming to an end, our MHS Beta Club is starting up with all its exciting plans and events for the year. The first event is the Halloween Bash on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be many activities, such as a costume contest, dancing, a selfie booth, and loads of food. Tickets are on sale now through October 28, 2022, for $15. Students are also allowed to bring kids from other schools as long as they are under the age of 20. Everyone is expected to go all out with their costumes and to have a fantastic night. There will be many more events and activities coming soon hosted by the MHS Beta Club.

Our Middleton High School Tiger Band is doing its thing! Shout out to them for coming in 2nd in Division 1A at Regionals. They will be moving on to state on November 5, 2022, in Paris, Tennessee. We are very excited for our band and wish them the best of luck. Band director, Dr. Yopp, said, “I’m very proud of how the band has worked and how it’s paying off.”

Kayleigh is a junior at Middleton High School and plans to pursue a career in writing. She enjoys reporting the highlights of MHS.
