Middleton Lady Tiger Harmony Bell Hits 1,000 Points {video}

Harmony Bell reached her goal of scoring 1,000 points and is celebrated by her teammates.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Middleton High School (MHS) Lady Tiger Harmony Bell reached a goal she set for herself when she first started playing basketball and that was to reach 1,000 points. One thousand is a big number all by itself and when it represents the number of points one basketball player has scored, it is even more impressive.

“I remember when I first picked up a ball, my step-dad asked me what was one of my personal goals and it was to hit one thousand points. I never thought I could do it, but today proved me wrong,” said Harmony. “I am just grateful and it feels great!”

During the MHS game on Tuesday against the West Carroll High School War Eagles, the first six points scored by the Lady Tigers were by Harmony as she reached her goal. Harmony is now a member of a select club with others who too single-handedly (of course, with the help of their teammates) scored 1,000 points as an MHS basketball player.

“I vividly remember a day in the gym when we were discussing some of the great players who had come through Middleton. She confidently told me that one day, she would earn a place on the 1,000-point club banner hanging in the gym and that she would compete in the state tournament as a high school player.” said MHS assistant coach Monterrio Williams, Harmony’s step-father. “Seeing her work tirelessly toward her goals and accomplish them has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me as both a father and a coach.”

Harmony is the oldest of four children and has a younger brother, Allen Williams (#2), who is an MHS Tiger basketball player. Coach Williams shared a bit of Harmony’s journey in basketball, noting she started later in the sport than most players.

“Harmony began playing basketball later than most, starting in the sixth grade, but once she set her mind to it, she became an incredibly dedicated and hardworking athlete. She committed herself to early morning and late-night workouts, constantly pushing to improve her skills,” said coach Williams. “While playing middle school basketball under my coaching, Harmony achieved significant milestones, including winning the district and area tournaments. She was also named MVP of the area tournament and led her team to the state tournament. Her first experience wearing a high school uniform came in eighth grade.”

Harmony loves basketball and it comes through on the court when you watch her play. She strives for accomplishments as an athlete and also works hard as part of the team.

“I like the chemistry of my teammates and playing with them. I like getting everybody else involved,” said Harmony, who appreciates her coaches and the leadership of MHS head coach James Burkley. “He is a tough coach. He gives tough love, and he always pushes us. I love that about him.”

Harmony joins coach Burkley as a member of the MHS 1,000 Point Club. Coach Burkley became a member in 1983 after reaching 1,000 points. Harmony also joins Averyale Joy, Deja Faulkner, Chelsea Perry, and Sequoya Warren, members of the MHS 2015 State Championship team, which was recognized on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Harmony Bell is now a member of the MHS 1,000 Point Club and her name will be added to the banner, which hangs in the MHS gym.

“Harmony works hard for her accomplishments and does it with a team concept. It’s well deserved,” said coach Burkley.

The Lady Tigers beat the War Eagles 59-17 on Tuesday night. Harmony scored 17 points against the team on her way to reaching her next 1,000 points.

Career stats for Harmony Bell are 1011 points, 161 assists, 284 rebounds, and 183 steals.
