Miley Jones Chosen to Represent Bolivar Central in Leadership Program

Miley Jones, a senior at Bolivar Central High School, was selected earlier in the year to represent the school in the Southwest Human Resource Agency (SWHRA) Student Leadership Program. Students participating in the program learn about the needs of the counties served by the SWHRA as well as the services offered through the agency, which can benefit those communities. They also are taught skills in leadership, working with diverse communities, and better ways to serve in those areas.

“I am very excited to have been selected by Principal Avent and counselor Ellen Fulghum to represent BCHS in the Student Leadership Program. I am looking forward to making a positive impact and pushing myself out of my comfort zone,” said Miley. “The activities that we do in the student leadership program are leadership training workshops focusing on communication and teamwork, and volunteering in local initiatives. We will also be touring local businesses to learn about community resources and leadership in different settings.”

Miley plans to become an orthodontist with a major in social work. She already sees benefits from the experience she has had through the SWHRA program.

“This program has helped me realize that I want to be a positive help to those who don’t have as much as others do,” said Miley.
