Miller Announces Potential Run for State Representative

Bethany Miller has announced she is forming an exploratory committee as she considers running for the Tennessee State House – District 80 position next year. The position is currently held by Representative Johnny Shaw, who is not expected to run for reelection. Ms. Miller currently serves on the Hardeman County Commission and is an assistant principal at Bolivar Elementary School.

“This district, which represents the heart of our community, deserves leadership that is committed to creating opportunities for all Tennesseans and ensuring that our values, challenges, and opportunities are well represented in Nashville,” said Ms. Miller in a recent Facebook post. “Our state is at a crossroads, and District 80 needs a voice that will advocate for responsible growth, robust educational opportunities, job creation, and a strong, thriving economy. As I explore this important decision, I am deeply committed to listening to the needs and concerns of every voter in our district. Together, we can build a future that works for everyone in our community.”

Since being elected as a county commissioner, Ms. Miller has held several town hall meetings to encourage community involvement in the decision making process of city and county issues. She has often noted her mission for making it easier for people to connect and ask questions of government leaders. Through the exploratory committee, Ms. Miller hopes to continue including the community in decisions she makes as an elected official.

“This exploratory committee will help me gather the insights, support, and resources needed to make a well-informed decision about running for office. I am eager to engage with you all and learn what matters most as we work together toward a brighter future for District 80 and Tennessee.” said Ms. Miller.
