A Public Interest Meeting was held on Monday, May 5, 2025, to allow residents a chance to ask questions, show support, or express concerns about a new multi-purpose sports complex planned for Bolivar. A large number of people attended the meeting with most showing support for the proposed development. The financial aspect of the project is expected to be discussed at the next Bolivar City Council meeting on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 6 p.m. You may watch the full meeting below.
In April 2023, the City of Bolivar Council gave Mayor McTizic approval to seek funding for a multi-purpose sports complex. The original plan indicated it would be located at West Park in Bolivar. Since then, Mayor McTizic has announced the possibility of it being located at the National Guard Armory building next to Walmart.
“For this facility, the City of Bolivar would purchase the National Guard Armory building. The current plans for the facility include a public playground, YMCA child care facilities, a three-court multi-purpose gymnasium with pickleball layout and concessions, outdoor swimming pool, wellness center, group exercise area, and four baseball/ softball fields, batting cage, press box, and concessions. The facility will be ADA accessible with ample parking,” shared Mayor McTizic in a recent Facebook post.
