UPDATE: This article is regularly updated as new training dates are added.

The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is offering free online Overdose Reversal Training. Upcoming training dates are Friday, January 27, at 12 p.m., Friday, February 10, at 12 p.m., and Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. CST.

Naloxone has been an effective medication used to reverse overdose and prevent deaths that often result. Although Naloxone is not a “cure” for an overdose, it has been a key tool in providing emergency services needed time to arrive and assist a patient immediately following an opiate overdose. Administering Naloxone, which restores breathing, is easy to do, but proper training is required by law. People are encouraged to attend the training if they are:

  • at risk of opioid overdose.
  • Are family or friends of those who are at risk of opioid overdose.
  • Anyone interested in learning how they can save a life by reversing an overdose.

Catherine Brunson, Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist, will present the virtual training.
