New Equipment Helps Increase Physical Activity

H2O has provided equipment throughout the towns of Hardeman County to help increase physical activity opportunities and to help people stay active longer. Most recently items have been installed in partnership with Bolivar Parks and Recreation Department.

A piece of adult exercise equipment has been installed near the playground at Sand Beach Lake Park.

“We worked with the parks and recreation department to install this piece of equipment so parents can workout while watching their children play nearby,” said Amy Elizer, Extension specialist. “Since parents are busy, tired, and happy to sit and watch, the placement of this equipment allows them to do two or three things at once . . . spend time with their child, exercise, and be an active role model.”

A bicycle repair station has been installed across the street from the Bolivar Police Department on the grounds of Bolivar City Hall and Fire Department. It is free to use.

“We requested the city place this item so that people could feel safe most any time of day that they need to make bicycle repairs,” Elizer said. Finally, a water fountain has been installed at Frog Park so those playing basketball can stay hydrated especially on those hot summer days.
