New Road Arrows Bring Clarity and Safety to Local Intersection {videos}

Whether you are headed to the Jackson or Hornsby/Selmer areas, once you arrive at the intersection of Highways North 18 and South 125, you will no longer have to guess, which lane you should be in to continue safely onto to your destination. TDOT workers were out on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, adding arrows on the ground at the intersection, which will hopefully make it easier for local and out-of-town drivers to choose the correct lane, especially when heading towards the Hornsby/Selmer area.
In June 2025, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) began road repairs on Highway 64, which includes nine miles of highway through Bolivar from Walton Road to Davis Way. During the roadway repairs, resurfacing was done, which caused lane markings to be removed.
When driving up and down Highway 64, drivers pretty much knew to stay on their side of the road and in “their lane”, although unmarked. Once they came to the intersection of Highways North 18 and South 125, it became a bit of a problem, and sometimes a dangerous situation. Most locals knew if heading to the Hornsby/Selmer area, they were to be in the right lane and the left lane was for those heading into Downtown Bolivar and on to the Jackson area. On an occasion, a driver heading towards Hornsby/Selmer mistakenly would sit in the left lane and continue from that lane once the light turned green.

Now, the road is clearly marked and the drive along Highway 64 continues to improve as road repairs are made.
