What’s on the November 8 Ballot?

Hardeman County voters will have the opportunity to return to the polls for the November 8, 2022, election. Early voting runs October 19 – November 3, 2022. On the ballot, voters will see the candidates for governor, followed by the four proposed amendments to the Tennessee Constitution, the United States House of Representatives, and the county’s remaining offices on the general election ballot.

Voters will have 10 choices for Governor of Tennessee; Republican nominee and incumbent Bill Lee, Democratic nominee Jason Brantley Martin, and eight independent candidates; Constance M. Every, John Gentry, Basil Marceaux, Charles Van Morgan, Alfred O’Neil, Deborah Rouse, Michael E. Scantland,
and Rick Tyler.

Tennessee voters will be able to cast a ballot for or against four proposed amendments to the Tennessee constitution. Read more about the amendments here.

In the United States House of Representatives District 8, Republican nominee David Kustoff will face Democratic nominee Lynnette P. Williams, and two independent candidates, James Hart and Ronnie Henley.

Democratic nominee Johnny W. Shaw is running unopposed for Tennessee House of Representatives District 80, which includes parts of Hardeman, Haywood, and Madison counties.

Republican nominee Ron M. Gant is running unopposed for Tennessee House of Representatives District 94, which includes Fayette, McNairy, and part of Hardeman counties.

Residents of Grand Junction, Hickory Valley, and Whiteville will also get to vote in their local elections.

Grand Junction’s incumbent mayor, Curtis Lane is being challenged by Nakita L Prewitt. Grand Junction voters will also be able to choose three alderman on their ballot. There are only three people running for those open positions, Benjamin P. Allen, Steve Luellen, and Robert “Red” Webb.

Hickory Valley mayor Ricky Ayers is running unopposed. Hickory Valley voters will also be able to choose five alderman. There are only five people running for those open positions, Bobby Hensley, Richard Brian Lake, Duane L Lax, Jane M. Powell, and Noel Toney.

Whiteville voters will be voting on a liquor referendum. Voters will choose whether they a for or against the legal sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises in Whiteville and also whether to permit or not permit retail package stores to sell alcoholic beverages in Whiteville.
