Obituary: Alice Ruth Herron

July 12, 1944 ~ August 28, 2022 (age 78)
Alice Ruth Fitzhugh Herron was born on July 12, 1944, to the late Henry Fitzhugh, Sr. and Ollie Mae Fitzhugh.

Ms. Herron’s funeral service was held on Saturday September 3, 2022, at the Dixie Funeral Home at 12 p.m. and Minister Barnell Herron, Jr. was in charge of the service.  Burial was in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.

She departed her earthly life on August 28, 2022, at her home surrounded by family and loved ones. Alice received her education in the Hardeman County school system. She was a caregiver until she retired. Alice enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying life to the fullest. Alice was devoted and loving towards family and those she called friend. 

Alice leaves to cherish her loving memories three daughters: Lynne (Calvin) Sain of Whiteville, Tennessee, Tonya Polk of Bolivar, Tennessee, and Ollie (Ellery) Herron of Whiteville, Tennessee; two sons: Eugene Fitzhugh and Barnell (Jackie) Herron of Kansas; two sisters: Thelma Taylor of Rockford, Illinois and Bobbie Anderson of Jackson, Tennessee; two brothers, Earl Jones of Memphis, Tennessee and Henry Fitzhugh, Jr. of Rockford, Illinois, and a host of grandchildren, great grand children, nieces, and nephews. Also, a very special companion, Michael Norment, and two special friends, Lavera Wilks and Sherry Spencer. Alice was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Fitzhugh; one grandson, Trelinco Polk; one sister, Elizabeth Cobb, and two brothers, William Jones and Curtis Fitzhugh.
