Obituary: Ann Cheshier

Ann Cheshier ~ October 3, 1938 – March 8, 2023 (age 84)

Ann Cheshier, 84, of Bolivar, passed from this life Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was born Marion Ann Gibson on October 3, 1938, in Chester County, Tennessee, daughter of the late Willie Ephraim Gibson and Lula Mae Gibbons Gibson and lived in Chester and McNairy Counties, before moving to Bolivar as a young bride in 1958.

Her first day as a transfer student at Bethel Springs High School, where she graduated class Salutatorian, she stole the study hall seat of Danny Cheshier. They became sweethearts and were married August 31, 1957. They enjoyed many community events and activities together, including going fishing and taking road trips, but mostly they simply enjoyed each other’s company. Ann was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Ann worked a number of clerical jobs, including Bolivar Dairy, and State Farm Insurance, before the book lover got to spend 16 years working at Hardeman County
Library. There she developed a love for genealogy research and enjoyed helping others trace their family history. Her most important and most loved job was taking care of her family. Whether serving as wife, Mama, Mamaw, or Aunt Ann, being with family was her greatest joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill, James, Jerry, and infant brother Joe. She is survived by her husband, Danny Cheshier, of Bolivar; daughter, Dana Cheshier, of Jackson, grandson, Evan Williams, his wife Danielle, and daughter, Charlotte, of Loudon, Tennessee; plus bonus granddaughter, Sarah Williams Kolb, her husband, Brian, children, Cameron and Nora, of Fort Leavenworth; and bonus grandson, Joseph Williams, and wife, Megan, of Cordova. She also is survived by sister-in-law, Lucille Gibson, of New Albany, Mississippi, and brothers-in-law, Jerry Cheshier, and wife, Wanda, of Bolivar, and Jack Cheshier and wife, Molly, of Selmer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Hardeman County Arts Council or the Hardeman County Library, both of which were important to Ann.
