Obituary: Arthur William Ellison – Toone, Tennessee

Arthur William Ellison ~ June 13, 1932 – October 4, 2022 (age 90)

His funeral service was held on Wednesday October 12, 2022, at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at 12 p.m. at Dixie Funeral Home with Reverend Lawrence Pirtle in charge. Burial was in the Jimmerson Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.  

A Time To Be Born

Arthur W. Ellison was born on June 13, 1932, to the late Oscar Ellison and Huellar Chism Ellison. He was affectionally known as Big Daddy and Mut.

A Time To Live

Arthur attended school in Hardeman County and lived in Toone his entire life. He was employed at Armira Corporation (Tannery), Harmon Automotive, and the Toone Center. Arthur was a hardworking man and loved his family.

A Time To Serve

At an early age, Arthur was baptized and became a member of Clover Chapel Baptist Church. He served as an usher and sang in the male chorus. Arthur remained a member until his death.

A Time To Yearn

On October 4, 2022, at 1:48 p.m. at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, God called Arthur William Ellison to come home to rest.

His funeral service was held on Wednesday October 12, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Lawrence Pirtle in charge. Burial was in the Jimmerson Cemetery and Dixie funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.

A Time To Mourn

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy L. Ellison. Those remembering and cherishing his fond memories are his daughter, Debra (Norman) Cobb of Medon, Tennessee; sons, Theodore (Gwen) Ellison of Bolivar, Tennessee, Ronnie Ellison of Toone, Tennessee, Milton (Marie) Ellison of Huntsville, Alabama, and Herman Clay (Monice) Ellison of Chester, Virginia; sister, Hugholene (Evelyn, Jr.) Robertson; and brother, Charles Edward (Mary Ann) Ellison. Others to mourn his memories are in-laws, Martha Mae Jimmerson and Virginia Jimmerson, 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend.
