Benjamin Thomas (Benny) Williams Jr. ~ November 11, 1940 – October 6, 2023 (age 83)
Benjamin Thomas (Benny) Williams Jr. Benny Williams, 83, of Bolivar, passed away at his home on Friday, October 6, 2023. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar, Tennessee is in charge of his services.
He was born on November 11, 1940, in Panama City, Panama, to Benjamin Thomas Williams, Sr. and Blanche Evelyn Miller Williams. Mr. Williams graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 1957 and enrolled in the United States Navy. He served his country from 1958 – 1963 as a free diver in Southeast Asia. On May 9, 1964, he married Janice Lynn Hooten, who later passed on June 16, 2015. Mr. Williams owned and operated Dixie Gas Co, Inc. for many years. He was known as an animal and nature lover.
His survivors include his four children, Amanda Williams, Benjamin Thomas Williams, III, Andrew Williams (Angela Hackett), and Haylee Williams, all of Bolivar; two sisters, Susannah Lax (Oren) of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Cynthia Doyle (Randy) of Bolivar, Tennessee; and a grandson, Jackson Williams. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a grandchild, Veda Williams.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hardeman Adoptable Animals or the Exotic Avian Sanctuary of Tennessee – East.
