Obituary: Bernice Isom – Middleton, Tennessee
Bernice Isom, 89, of Middleton, departed this life Monday morning, October 10, 2022, at her home. She was born on Tuesday, September 12, 1933, in Corinth, Mississippi, daughter of the late James William Smith and Myrtle Paralee Holloway Smith, and lived all of her life here.
She married Leon L. Isom, Jr., on December 23, 1951, and was a homemaker and sat with the elderly. Mrs. Isom enjoyed cooking, visiting with people, and bringing them her homemade food and canning. She was a member of New Hope church of Christ.
Church services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Pocahontas Church of Christ with Tom Childers officiating. Burial will be in Essary Springs Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar is in charge of professional arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 71 years, Leon L. Isom, Jr. of Middleton; two daughters, Joyce Thompson (Gary) of Beech Bluff and Jannie Griffin (David) of Bells; a son, Jimmy Isom (Becky) of Cleveland, Tennessee; three brothers, James E. Smith (Geraldine) of Middleton, Donny Wayne Smith (Barbara) of Essary Springs and Jerry Dean Smith (Glenda) of Ramer; three grandchildren, Autumn Renee Kelley (Adam), Rachel Isom (John Butler), and Morgan Key (Max); and two great grandchildren, Austin and Addison Kelley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Neal Smith.
Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Pocahontas church of Christ or New Hope church of Christ.
