Obituary: Betty Jo Grantham
Betty Jo Grantham ~ August 12, 1929 -July 31, 2023 (age 93)
Betty Jo Grantham, 93, of Bolivar, passed from this life Monday evening, July 31, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born Monday, August 12, 1929, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Wines Dallas Jackson and Lucy T. Fawcett Jackson, living all her life here. She went to school at Hebron and married Willard C. Grantham in 1946 after he got out of the service. Mrs. Grantham was best known for driving bus #39 for the Hardeman County School System for over 30 years, however she was also a homemaker, raising four children. She enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers, was a voracious cleaner, and had no problem cooking three meals a day for her family. Mrs. Grantham attended New Bethany Church of Christ.
Services will be at the Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 1 p.m. with burial in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Grantham Berryman (Richard) of Bolivar; three sons, Don Grantham of Bolivar, Ricky Grantham (Pamela) of Middleton, and Brad Grantham (Elizabeth) of Bolivar; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, who died in 2003 after 57 years of marriage, and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patrice Grantham; two sisters, Ruby Nell Stewart and Hazel Sisco; and two brothers, Lynn and W.D. Jackson.
Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association, or the Rehobeth Cemetery Foundation.
