Obituary: Betty Lou Couch Moore

Betty Lou Couch Moore ~ November 7, 1938 – June 9, 2025 (age 86)

Betty Lou Couch Moore, age 86, resident of Whiteville, Tennessee and wife of the late John Thomas Moore, departed this life Monday morning, June 9, 2025, at Christian Care Center of Bolivar, Tennessee.

Betty was born November 7, 1938, in Yorkville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Clarence Edwin Couch and Mary Lucille Norman Couch. She graduated from Yorkville School, was a homemaker throughout her life and kept children out of her home for 18 years. She was married July 18, 1959, to John Thomas Moore who preceded her in death on November 24, 2016.

Mrs. Moore was a member of Hickory Withe Baptist Church in Eads, Tennessee. She was a self-taught piano player who enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds, eating homemade ice cream, and going to fish frys. She adored her family, especially her three sisters who were her world, and loved making memories at the Tennessee River.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Owen (Donnie) of Whiteville, Tennessee; her son, John Edward Moore (Girlie) of Whiteville, Tennessee; two sisters, Judy Crocker (William) of Trenton, Tennessee, and Patricia Hamilton of Medina, Tennessee; and her grandson, Aiden Moore of Whiteville, Tennessee. She also leaves her bonus family, Alex and Suzy Munoz of Whiteville, Tennessee and their children, Jose Munoz, Jesus Munoz, Angel Munoz, and Alejandra Munoz.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Harris Cooke, and her nephew, Hal Harris.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Moore will be held at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Brother Eddie Little officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Following the service, all are invited to join the family at Bäckermann’s Country Market in Whiteville.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jose Munoz, Mike Harris, Mike Moore, Brian Fraley, Jonathan Swarey, Jesus Munoz, and Angel Munoz. Honorary pallbearers will be William Crocker and Alex Munoz.
