Obituary: Bobbie Clarke Leonard

Bobbie Clarke Leonard ~ September 2, 1930 – April 11, 2023

Bobbie passed into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Fred D. Clarke, Jr.; her husband of seven years, Clifford Nolen; her husband of six years, James H. Leonard; her son, Fred D. Clarke, III; and granddaughter, Genie Clarke.

She is survived by her children Paul T. Clarke, David M. Clarke (Susan), Mary Clarke Moore (Stan), Deborah Clarke Carrier (John); her grandchildren, Melanie Clarke, Sarah Jones Shoryer (Ted), Austin Clarke (Clay), Clarissa Lawhone, David Dorsett, Shannon Dorsett McNabb (Joey), Jennifer Moore Amido (Emmanuel), Stephen Moore (Amanda), Ginny Davis (Mike), and Noa Eason; and 13 great grandchildren.

Bobbie graduated in 1949 from Humes High and in 1980, at the age of 50, from Methodist School of Nursing. She was employed by Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. For many years, she was a teacher for Child Evangelism Fellowship and volunteered as their camp nurse. Bobbie was a long-time member of Open Door Bible Church.

A visitation will be held at Open Door Bible Church, 1792 North Parkway, on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., with a memorial service starting at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Memphis Memory Gardens.
