Bobby R. Watson ~ May 27, 1936 – October 27, 2022
Bobby R. Watson, age 86 of Bolivar, passed from this life on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Watson was born Wednesday, May 27, 1936, to Wright Ezekiel and Julia Elizabeth Pearlie Sasser Watson in Opp, Alabama. He grew up in Baker, Florida and moved to Tennessee as an adult to find work. His first job was in Toone, Tennessee, where he dug wells.
On July 1, 1963, he was married to Adeline Gertrude Page, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He worked for Lane Central and Red Ball Motor Freight in the mid 60s until he became a forklift operator for Consolidated Freightways in 1982. Mr. Watson was a hard worker, working nights for the freight company and days, self-employed, in landscaping. He retired in 1996.
Mr. Watson was Baptist in belief, but attended St. Mary’s Catholic church with his beloved wife until her passing in 2016.
He was a member of the Memphis Knife Club and a Teamster. Mr. Watson loved working on old tractors and especially loved his family and grandchildren.
The funeral service was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. with interment at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery in Bolivar, Tennessee. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar was in charge of all professional arrangements.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sara Skinner (Billy) of Bolivar; Katie Watson (partner Christopher Torrence) of Bolivar; a brother, Ruben Watson of
Collinswood, Virgina; four grandchildren, Justin Skinner (Jenny), Paige Nine (Stephen), Bobby Skinner (Jewel), and Lindsey Watson; and two great-
grandchildren, Nicholas Nine and Newcomb Skinner. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers.
