Obituary: Carol Brown
Carol Brown, 70, of Middleton, departed this life on Thursday night, March 7, 2024, at the West Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee.
She was born in Carroll County, Tennessee but lived all of her life in Hardeman County. She was the daughter of Harold Dean Johnson and Helen Louise Gurley Johnson Stewart. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Murley Stewart; a brother, Dewayne Johnson; and her in-laws, Mary Alice and James Monroe Brown.
A Baptist in belief, Mrs. Brown had worked at Harmon Automotive, Armira, Lucerne, Master Slack, and the Jackson Sun. In her spare time, she enjoyed yard work, collecting carousel horses, taking care of her daughters and grandchildren including time spent with everyone at family gatherings. She also liked playing scratch-offs with the Tennessee Lottery and trips to Tunica, Mississippi.
Chapel services will be held at the Shackelford Funeral Home chapel in Bolivar on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 2 p.m. with a burial in the Shandy Cemetery.
She leaves her husband of 52 years, Doug Brown of Middleton; two daughters, Trina Smith and Crystal Brown (fiancé, Jonathan Luttrell), both of Middleton; sister, Sherry Stewart of Bolivar; half-sister, Marie Johnson of Jackson; half-brother, Harold Alan Johnson (Jan) of Jackson; step-mother, Lena Davis (Robert) of Jackson; sister-in-law, Libby Johnson, also of Jackson; and six grandchildren, Jay Smith (Brooklyn), Kyle Smith, Abby Smith, Riley Smith, Madison Thompson (Ethan), and Avery Hill.
