Obituary: Charlie Ray Pirtle

Charlie Ray Pirtle ~ December 20, 1968 – May 1, 2024 (age 55)

A TIME TO BE BORN Charlie “Chop” Pirtle was born December 20, 1968, to the late Rosie Lee Pankey and Ralph J. Pirtle.

A TIME FOR ETERNAL REST On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, God in His infinite wisdom deemed it time for his beloved son to depart from this earthly world to a place of peace and eternal rest in His Heavenly Kingdom. Charlie was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie L. Pankey; sisters, Cassandra Pankey and Mary Pirtle; brother, Tommy Hudson; stepmother, Linda Faye Pirtle; mother and father-in-law, Enlow and Deloris Barber.

His funeral service will be held at Campbell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 3 p.m. with Pastor William Young in charge. The burial will be in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home is in charge of the professional service. 

A TIME TO LIVE Charlie obtained an education in the Hardeman County School System where he attended Bolivar Central High and graduated in 1987. He accepted Christ in his life at and early age. Charlie was a good friend to many and he loved life to the fullest and enjoyed helping others. His greatest passion was his family – wife, his girls, and grandkids. Charlie worked for the Hardeman County Correctional Facility for 27 years and was a hard and dedicated worker who was loyal to his job! Also, he worked as a mechanic, lawn service, and wore many other hats when it came to helping others.

Charlie was united in holy matrimony to Martha on February 5, 1999. His greatest accomplishment was attending church at Campbell Chapel Missionary Church. He loved his Pastor and church family. Charlie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

CHARLIE LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES A loving wife, Martha Pirtle of Bolivar, Tennessee; his father, Ralph J. Pirtle; his daughters, LaShunna McNeal, Sharla Barber, Martissa Pirtle ( Tadarro Geanes), MaKaila Long, and Keanna Pirtle; sisters, Malissa (Wilbert) Jarmon, Christa Pirtle, Katina McNeal, Kawanda (Jerry) Murphy, and Kenealia (Arlando) Armour; brothers, Cortez Pankey, Ralph (Melissa) Pirtle, Jr., and Roger Pirtle; five grandchildren, Karlee, Massiah, Marianna, Bryce, and Payden; one brother-in-law, Percy (Gracie) Barber; two sisters-in-law, Mary Harris and Flora Barber; five special lifelong friends, Mike Brown, Reginald Spinks, Therman Spinks, Jason Wilkes, and Benjamin Lax; favorite nephew, Ozell Robertson and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends whom will truly miss him.

Visitation: Dixie Funeral Home in the Jerome Boyd Chapel, 750 Bills Street, Bolivar, Tennessee, 38008, on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Funeral Services: Campbell’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 17545 Highway 125 South, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 3 p.m.
