Clara Howell Jones ~ May 18, 1938 – January 12, 2023 (age 84)
Clara Howell Jones, 84, passed from this life Thursday, January 12, 2023, in Portland, TN at her daughter’s home.
The daughter of the late Jessie Floyd Howell and Fannie Elizabeth Goff Howell, she was born in Hardeman County. Mrs. Jones married Mr. Bruce C. Jones, Jr. on January 30, 1955, and they moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee in 1971. Mr. Jones departed this life on May 6, 2018, after 63 years of marriage.
Mrs. Jones worked as an assembler for Peterbilt Trucks and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, Tennessee where she and Mr. Jones moved to in 2002. In her leisure time, she like gardening and growing very colorful flowers. Mrs. Jones most enjoyed the time she spent with her family whom she dearly loved.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Howell, Maye Stamey, and Thelma Tucker; and two brothers, Paul and Dean Howell.
Services were at the Shackelford Funeral Home chapel in Bolivar at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery near Pocahontas.
She leaves two daughters, Kathryn Ann Coleman (Bruce) of Portland, Tennessee and Karen Moore (Ray) of Hendersonville; one son, Bruce Kerry Jones of St. Petersburg, Florida; three sisters, Lucille Howell of Bolivar, Linda Faye Bynum of Nashville, and Ann Gowdy of Selmer; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
