David “Taco” Turner ~ August 24, 1957 – September 8, 2023 (age 66)
David “Taco” Turner, 66, of Saulsbury, departed this life on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Turner will be held at the Grand Valley Lodge, 405 Grand Valley Drive, Saulsbury, Tennessee 38067 on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The son of the late M. G. and Ruby Sudduth Turner, he was born in Hayti, Missouri and was a graduate of Northwest High School in House Springs, Missouri. David lived most of his life in the Frayser area of Memphis before moving to Hardeman County 14 years ago.
A very creative master carpenter, he worked for several national companies in construction. As a young man, he had worked on oil rigs near Corpus Christi, Texas. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, playing golf, cooking, working on cars, and was a collector of die-cast model cars. David was also fond of watching old westerns and Hallmark movies. He was a member of Hope Recovery Church, Medon, Tennessee.
Mr. Turner is survived by three daughters, Heather (Curtis) Long of Memphis, Kelly (Greg) Thomas of Murfreesboro and, Elizabeth (Victor) McKinney of Bartlett; five grandchildren, Dalton, Skyler, Chloe, Adeline and Josiah; four sisters, Peggy Cochran of Rocky Mount, Missouri, Ronda (Larry) Hogan of Oakland, Barbara (Kent) McDaniel of Rossville, and Deborah (Stephen Schwartz) Brasfield of Saulsbury; eleven nieces and nephews; and 21 great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Paul Cochran and John Allen Brasfield, Jr.
Memorials may be sent to Hope Recovery Church in Medon or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
