Dorothy Elizabeth Davis East (age 96)
Dorothy Elizabeth Davis East was born on April 10, 1926 and died on February 27, 2023. She was 96 years old.
Mrs. East, a long-term resident of Grand Valley Lakes, in Saulsbury, Tennessee, passed away after a brief illness. She was born in Rosebud, Arkansas and after marriage lived in Ellendale, Tennessee before settling in Saulsbury with her family. Mrs. East was active in many garden clubs over the years. She was also an avid bird watcher, and she enjoyed doing crafts, especially painting and making ceramics. Mrs. East was a member of the Red Hat Society, and the Grand Valley Ladies Club. She, alongside her sister, Neva, was instrumental in starting and developing the Grand Valley Lakes Cemetery. Mr. East loved traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of West Memorial Baptist Church.
Services for Mrs. East will be conducted at Shackelford Funeral Home (Bolivar, Tennessee) on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, with visitation at 11 a.m. and services at noon.
Mrs. East is proceeded in death by both parents; four sisters and a brother; her husband of 68 years, Kenneth East Sr.; a son, Kenneth East, Jr.; and her daughter, Deborah Dolan. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Durdin (Randy); a daughter-in-law, Judy East; her sister June (Ricky); and a brother, Donald. Mrs. East had seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, and three more on the way.
