Obituary: Dr. Priscila Cabrera Guia – Bartlett, Tennessee
Priscila Cabrera Guia ~ January 31, 1931 – December 17, 2022 (age 91)
Dr. Priscila Cabrera Guia, 91, of Bartlett, formerly of Bolivar, passed from this life Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Ave Maria Home in Bartlett.
Dr. Guia was born January 31, 1931, in San Pablo City, Philippines, daughter of the late Angel and Loreto Daya Cabrera and married Dr. Leonardo I. Guia on October 31, 1960. They moved to the United States in 1966. She worked as a pediatrician in the Philippines and retired as a Doctor of Psychiatry with Western Mental Health Institute (WMHI), where she worked alongside her husband, in November of 1997 after 30 years of employment. While at WMHI, she also served as Clinical Director and Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Guia enjoyed traveling, working with ceramics, playing Mahjong, dancing, going to casinos, socializing, and jewelry. She loved playing the piano, playing for many years at her church. Dr. Guia was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bolivar.
Funeral Mass service is at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bolivar on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Father Carl Hood officiating. Burial is in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors, 109 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, Tennessee is in charge of professional arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters, Dr. Melanie Perkins (David) of Lakeland and Michelle Guia of Bolivar; her son, Dr. Marvin Guia of Hardeeville, South Carolina; a sister, Alicia Cabrera of San Pablo City, Philippines; and a granddaughter, Emily Perkins of Lakeland. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Claro Cabrera and Senen Cabrera. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 223 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008, Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society.
