Mrs. Campbell was born on Wednesday, August 20, 1930, daughter of the late Leo and Bertha Haase Bishop, living most of her life around the Whiteville area, and in Bells since 2000. She was a 1948 graduate of Whiteville High School and married Odell Campbell on September 4, 1948, just recently celebrating their 75th anniversary. She worked as a supervisor at Master Slack Corp for 16 years, retiring in 1993, and previously worked at HIS in Whiteville. Mrs. Campbell enjoyed being a homemaker most of all, working alongside her husband in their garden they grew for 72 of their 75-year marriage, and doting and loving on her children and grandchildren. Keeping the house up and ironing was not a chore for her, as she loved doing those things to help her family. She embodied the Bible’s words with having a servant’s heart and was a good Christian woman, spouse and mother. Canning food for her family was a passion of hers, and she also enjoyed bluegrass music. She was known to do what she could with what she had, where she was, and most importantly, with love in her heart. Mrs. Campbell was a member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church in Jackson; First Baptist in Whiteville, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher, and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
