Ernest Lee Jones ~ October 26, 1952 ~ January 4, 2023 (age 70)
Ernest Lee “Mackie” Jones was born October 26, 1952, to the late Phillip Joe Jones and Donnie Lee Jones in Whiteville, Tennessee. He departed this life on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Jackson General Hospital.
His funeral service was held on Saturday January 14, 2023, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert Popular, Sr. in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.
“Mackie”, as he was lovingly known in the community, accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Antioch Baptist Church. He attended school in the Hardeman County School System. Afterwards, he became employed with Houston Well Company in Somerville, Tennessee. Mr. Jones later became an employee of Hardeman Farmer’s Co-0p. He was a brake and tire specialist for over 26 years and until his health failed. “Mackie” was well known in Hardeman and Fayette Counties for working on brakes and tires.
Mr. Jones leaves to cherish his memories six children, Victor (Adrienne) Alexander, Ernest (Kiana) Morgan, Jennifer (Richard) Holley, Andre Jones, Phillip Conner, Kendre Jones, and Karissa Conner, whom he raised as his own; three brothers, Marshall (Adrienne) Jones, Eugene (Dorothy) Jones, and Leotis Jones; five sisters, Lizzie M. Sain, Rosie V. Jones, Earnestine Jones, Ella W. Jones, and Maxine Bowers; seventeen grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Willie Jones, Robert Lee Jones, and Willie V. Sain; two sisters, Louise Blaylock, and Norlean Joy; and one special friend, Angela Conner.
