Obituary: Gus Richardson, Jr.
July 9, 1944 ~ August 6, 2022 (age 78)
Gus Richardson Jr. departed this life on Saturday August 6, 2022. He was born July 9, 1944 in Hardeman County, Tennessee to Gus “Tank” Richardson and Lizzie Mae “Hera” Richardson whom both preceded him in death.
His funeral service was held on Saturday August 13, 2022 at 3 p.m. at the Dixie Funeral Home in Bolivar with Elder Willie Hoyle in charge. Burial was in the Richardson Heights Cemetery-Saulsbury and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.
Gus professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He later became a member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Michigan City, Mississippi.
He was educated in Hardeman County, Tennessee.
On December 30, 1965 Gus was united in Holy Matrimony to Gertha Mae Richardson. To this union, three children were born.
He worked for the City of Memphis Park Commission for 35 years. He loved working outside and worked numerous jobs until his death.
Along with his parents, Gus was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gertha Mae Richardson; his sister, Christine (Joseph Lee) Smith; his nephew, Myron Smith; and a very special cousin, Otis Salton.
Gus leaves to cherish his loving memory his brother, Michael Richardson; five children, Sandra Richardson McNeal, Evelyn Richardson, Sarah (Troy) Hamer, Johnny Yanc,y and Gregory (Tonya) Alston; five grandchildren, Daniele (Pooh) Richardson, Tralyssa (Leesa) Hamer, Khadijah (Miss Colleen) Richardson, Brendon McNeal, and Montavious Alston; two great grandchildren, Cordell Richardson and Royal Alston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he cherished dearly.
