Obituary: Harold David Wilson

Harold David Wilson ~ March 6, 1960 – April 23, 2024 (age 64)

Harold David Wilson, age 64, of Saulsbury, Tennessee peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth, Mississippi due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Auto Immune Disease.

He was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on March 6, 1960. Shortly after, he moved to Mount Pleasant, Mississippi on the Puryear Dairy Farm later becoming Wilson Dairy-his mother’s homestead. David graduated his senior year at Nathan Bedford Forrest Academy in Forrest City, Arkansas and went on to graduate from Crowley’s Ridge Technical Institute and received his Associate’s Degree in Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Operator.

He had many jobs throughout his lifetime. Starting as a stocker at the Mad Butcher in Earle, Arkansas, Dredge Boat Mechanic on the Mississippi River, Crittenden County Arkansas Road Department, Shop Foreman for H. B. Zachary in Texas, Shop Foreman at Case Equipment in Arkansas for many years. He then began his other passion working as an independent carpenter and trim master remodeling homes and historical places.

In 2005 he settled in Saulsbury, Tennessee continuing both passions as handy man of “everything” and maintenance for Candlewood Lakes POA.

In 2012 he became employed at Outdoor Equipment in Bolivar, Tennessee as Shop Foreman until retirement in 2022.

David loved being outside, plowing up a garden, being on a tractor, planting vegetables, eating good home-grown food, fishing in a boat or the bank it didn’t matter just as long as he could fish, guns and going hunting, Chevy trucks, fixing anything mechanically, wood working, making and creating beautiful furniture, cutting down trees precisely I might add, riding his four-wheeler, watching Westerns and War Movies, reading, going on train rides, visiting Colorado, playing Scrabble on Sundays with Linda, working and hanging out with Stan in the shop, and playing with his dog, Blue. He was always there to help anyone who asked because he was a master of all things. If David couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed. He loved his family and friends so much and I know we all will miss those easy days of sitting around talking and laughing at some of the things that he would come up with. His handshake was his truth and he followed God’s commandments.

In the hearts of those who survive him are his sisters, Judith Ann Wilson-Eckersley of Monument, Colorado, and Joy Wilson Smith (Kevin Smith) of Somerville, Tennessee. His son, David Wesley Wilson, and granddaughter, Aria Skye Bulluck of West Memphis, Arkansas; and former wife, Barbara Partain of Crawfordsville, Arkansas; stepmother, Carol Wilson of Oakland, Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Jessica Matthes (Brian Matthes)( grandniece Ellie Matthes and grandnephew Wesley) of Monument, Colorado, Dylan Eckersley of Monument, Colorado, and Kyler Smith of Somerville, Tennessee; aunts and uncle, James Wilson (Frances) of Dickson, Tennessee and Don Wilson (Nell) of Brandon, Mississippi, Martha Wilson of Old Houlka, Mississippi, and Sarah Minahin of Tampa, Florida; and all his cousins in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and North Carolina.

Harold David Wilson is predeceased in death by his father, Charles Wesley Wilson, and mother, Lillian Puryear; grandparents, Roger and Zallie Puryear, and James Wesley and Iva Wilson; brother-in-law Kenneth Eckersley; uncles, Tom Wilson, Mac Wilson, and George Puryear; aunts, Hulen Voyles, Sue Kenderdine, Sally Puryear, and Dianne Wilson; and cousins, Quinn Wilson and Shaun Minahan.
