Obituary: Harry Rush

Harry Rush ~ April 16, 1960 – October 9, 2023 (age 63)

Harry Rush, 63, of Silerton, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Bolivar General Hospital.

He was born in Bolivar to the late Harry Earl and Ossie Ruth Stewart Rush and lived his entire life in the Silerton community.

A 1978 graduate of Chester County High School, he worked 24 years for Thyssen-Krupp Elevators in Middleton and was a member of Silerton Methodist Church.   Harry was an avid musician who loved to sing and play his guitar. He also raised goats and enjoyed horses and dogs. Harry had a large group of friends in Silerton and most liked spending time with them and his family.

Services were held in the chapel of Shackelford Funeral Directors on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. in Bolivar with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Silerton. Visitation was on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday, October 13, 2023, one hour prior to service.

He leaves his wife, Vicki Massey Rush, whom he married on July 22, 2017; two daughters, Crystal Ross (Chuck) and April Rush, both of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; three step-daughters, Kelly Stewart of Middleton, Shannon James (Brent) of Williston, and Heather Bryant of Memphis; a sister, Trudy Rush Henson (John Paul) of Southaven, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Autumn Burton, Zoe and Harmony Arment, Ryder Ross, Tristan Morris, Adrianna and Tyler Clayton, and Ella-Marie Rush; eight step-grandchildren, Chase Carder, Emma Perry, Max Minderman, Addy James, Demi Richardson, Taylor Cash, Landon Keller, and Savanna Motes; seven step-great-grandchildren, Nova Carder, Tysen and Cash Smith, Jeremiah Dougherty, Silas and Luka Keller, and Atlis Ferrell; and, two nieces, Melissa Ann Hooper Negri and Andrea Hooper May.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
