Obituary: Jane Mayfield

Jane Mayfield ~ February 8, 1947 – November 3, 2025 (age 78)

Jane Mayfield, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this life on Monday, November 3, 2025, at her cherished home in Toone, Tennessee. She graced the world with her presence from February 8, 1947, having been born in Blytheville, Arkansas, and later blossoming in the quaint town of Paragould, where she spent her formative years.

Jane’s professional journey was marked by dedication and service, with significant roles as a teller and secretary at Merchants and Planters Bank from 1992 to 1997, as well as a position at UP Bank in Memphis. Her commitment to her work reflected her unwavering work ethic and passion for serving others.

Beyond her professional life, Jane found immense joy in the simple pleasures of existence. She adored hummingbirds and flowers, showcasing her appreciation for nature’s delicate beauty. Her hands were often busy with sewing and her mind immersed in the pages of beloved books. Yet, the most profound joy in Jane’s life emanated from her adoration for her grandchildren—Kylie Chambers, Lilah Chambers, Bailey Amos, Madalynn Amos, and Zoey Miles—whose laughter and innocence enriched her soul.

A compassionate spirit, Jane devoted her time as a weekly volunteer at local animal shelters, particularly with Hardeman Adoptable Animals, demonstrating her unwavering love for all living beings. Her faith was deeply rooted as a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bolivar, where she gathered in community and prayer, nurturing her spiritual life.

Jane leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Amy Elizabeth Chambers, and her husband Jason of Marietta, Georgia; her son Matthew Mayfield and his wife Nikki of Toone; her cherished grandchildren; and her dear sisters, Nita Palone and Tony, and Jean White, both of Paragould, Arkansas. Additionally, Jane shared a special bond with her dear family friend, Marcus Jones, who was an integral part of her life.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Danny Marvin Mayfield, who passed away on January 4, 2020, after almost 48 years of marriage; her beloved father, Dave White; and her nurturing mother, Bertha Collins White. Their legacy lives on through Jane’s vibrant spirit and the love she shared with those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Jane’s remarkable life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bolivar, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., leading to her interment at Cearley Cemetery in Toone.

As we gather to honor Jane Mayfield, let us remember her warmth, kindness, and the abundant love she so generously bestowed upon her family and friends. Her memory shall forever remain in our hearts, a gentle reminder of the beauty that a life well-lived can bring to the world. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Hardeman Adoptable Animals or St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 223 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008.
