Obituary: Janice Faye Hayes
Janice Faye Hayes, age 74, resident of Whiteville and wife of Dennis Hayes, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Bolivar General Hospital in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Mrs. Hayes was born on June 17, 1951 and was the cherished daughter of John Rose, Jr. and Ramona McElwain Rose. Janice married Dennis Hayes on August 7, 1976, and graduated from Shelby State with an associate’s degree in nursing. She will be remembered for her deep love of family and the joy she brought to their lives through her culinary skills. Cooking was not just a pastime for Janice; it was an expression of her love. She delighted in preparing meals that brought everyone together. Gardening was another one of her treasured pursuits.
In addition to her love for cooking and gardening, Janice had a playful spirit, enjoying games of Yahtzee and various other games on her phone. These activities reflected her lively personality and her ability to find joy in the simplest of pleasures, bringing friends and family together for laughter and companionship.
Janice leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and fond memories. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Hayes; her daughter, Lynn McLaughlin; two sons, Jesse Hayes and Dewaine Hayes (Virginia); her sister, Sharon Reed (Rusty); and 25 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Hayes; her son, Samuel Hayes; and four brothers, Richard, Mark, Michael, and John.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hayes will be at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 2 p.m. in Somerville with Terry Logan officiating. The interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery on Old Jackson Road in Somerville. A visitation for Mrs. Hayes will be at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in in Somerville.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
