Obituary: Jarvis Jermaine Morgan

Jarvis Jermaine Morgan ~ September 3, 1986 – March 20, 2025 (age 38)

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Jarvis “Yella” Jermaine Morgan, who was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the home of his parents, James and Essie Morgan.

Jarvis was born on September 3, 1986, in Ripley, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Michigan City, Mississippi, where he grew in faith and spirit.

He attended Ashland High School and later earned his diploma through a home school program, always showing determination and a strong work ethic.

Throughout his life, Jarvis was known for his diverse work history. He worked with various companies, including Ashley Furniture, The Grove at Cayce, McKinnie Soundz LLC, Kimery Processing, D&T Sawmill, and CNP Waste Company. If there were ever a project, which needed fixing or a vehicle needing some care, Jarvis was the go-to guy in his community, lending his skills as a handyman and mechanic to friends, family, and neighbors alike. His love for working with his hands was matched only by his passion for life and laughter. Jarvis had a wide range of hobbies that reflected his vibrant and dynamic personality.

He was a fan of wrestling and sports, always excited to watch the latest events. Jarvis was also a standout basketball player in his community, known for his skill and competitive spirit. Fishing was a beloved escape for him, offering moments of peace and excitement—especially when making that big catch. In true Jarvis fashion, he couldn’t resist turning up the bass in his car, filling the air with music that matched his energetic spirit. He took great pleasure in washing cars, playing video games, and, above all, bringing laughter to those around him. His teasing, especially toward his brother Danny, was part of what made him unforgettable.

Jarvis was incredibly intelligent and had a unique ability to make everyone laugh, leaving behind lasting memories of his playful spirit that will never be forgotten.

Jarvis is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Flora Hoyle, and Addie and L.V. Morgan Sr. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting memories.

He is survived by his parents, Essie and James Morgan Sr. of Michigan City, Mississippi; his brothers, Danny Hoyle of Michigan City, Mississippi, and James Morgan Jr. of Byhalia, Mississippi; his sister, Gracey (Melvin) McKinnie of Bolivar, Tennessee; his nieces, Jeliyah Hoyle of Walnut, Mississippi, and JaKayla Morgan of Byhalia, Mississippi; his Godson, Nehemiah Terrell Haddix; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He also leaves behind his special friend, Elasha Lewis of Grand Junction, Tennessee, and his favorite uncle, Willie “Johnny” Hoyle of Ashland, Mississippi. Though Jarvis may no longer be with us in person, his memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know him. His laughter, his jokes, and his love for family will continue to resonate with us every day. Rest in peace, Yella. You will never be forgotten.
