Obituary: Jeff “Pops” Phipps
Memorial services for Jeff “Pops” Phipps, 67, of Bolivar, will be in the Shackelford Chapel in Bolivar on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 4 p.m. He departed this life on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Born and reared in Bryan, Ohio, he was the son of the late Paul and Ruth Phipps. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gwen Balser, and a brother-in-law, John Hachtel.
Mr. Phipps lived in Hardeman and Fayette counties for over 30 years where he had been active with the Hardeman County Rescue Squad, Braden (Tennessee) Fire and Rescue, Henderson County Fire and Rescue, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. Before retirement, he had been a dispatcher for Custom Trucking. He also lived several years in Arizona.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, karaoke, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. His daughter remembers him as being a “good Dad”. He attended Trinity Baptist Church in Bolivar.
Mr. Phipps leaves two children, Kachaelle Webster of Jackson and Michael Ash of Clarksville, Tennessee; a sister, Cathy Hachtel of Lagrange; a brother, Erny “Dale” Phipps of Peoria, Arizona; a brother-in-law, Daniel Balser of Arizona; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the Warriors Center, Bolivar or Trinity Baptist Church, 1210 Tate Road, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008.
