Obituary: Jewel C. Hill – Bolivar, Tennessee

Jewel C. Hill, 84, of Bolivar, passed from this life on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.

He was born on Friday, January 28, 1938, in Hardeman County, son of the late Tillman Eugene Hill and Mildred May Young Hill, both of whom preceded him in death. He retired from working at Dixie Gas Company and lived his life in the Bolivar area.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, especially for squirrels and ducks and in his later years, greatly enjoyed fishing. Mr. Hill was Baptist in faith.

Graveside services were on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Cearley Cemetery near Toone with Charles Jeter officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of professional arrangements.


Survivors include a daughter, Katie Hill of Bolivar; a son, Brian Hill of Bolivar; three brothers, Tillmon Hill, Jr. (Lois), James Hill (Diane), and Jerry Hill (Shirley), all of Bolivar; grandchildren, Hannah Hill, Kristy Baddour (Henry), Nicole Baker, Holly Myer and Robyn Myer; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Myer; and a brother, Jimmy Hill. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
