Obituary: Jo Ann Woods

Jo Ann Woods was born on November 1, 1941, in Bolivar, Tennessee, to the late Mr. Herbert and Mattie B. Pankey.
Her funeral service will be held at Campbell’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday February 8, 2025, at 12 p.m. with Pastor William Young in charge. the burial will be in the Green Grove Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home is in charge of the professional service.
She was educated in the Hardeman County public schools.
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ and later joined Campbell’s Chapel Missionary Baptist, where she remained a faithful member and served on the Mother’s Ministry.
Ms. Woods loved assisting people, especially her Hardeman County Development Center clients. She loved gardening, working in her flower beds, and traveling. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Earl Woods, Sr., and five children were born to this union.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pankey; husband, Willie Earl Woods, Sr.; daughter, Delores Cross; brother, Herbert Pankey; and two sisters, Mozelle Pankey and Mattie Lake.
Her loving spirit will forever be cherished and remembered by her four children, Willie Earl Woods, Jr., of Bolivar, Annell Richmond of Bolivar, Shirley Woods of Bolivar, and Irene (Pastor Benjamin) Bean of Nashville; two sisters, Vernelle Wymbs and Ann McTizic of Chicago, Illinois; twelve grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of special relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
