John Edward (Pete) Smith John Edward “Pete” Smith ~ July 14, 1968 – December 24, 2022
John Edward (Pete) Smith John Edward “Pete” Smith passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Bolivar General Hospital.
He was born in Bolivar, the son of the late John Ellis Smith and Mable Dacus Smith Hopper, who survives and lived all of his life in Hardeman County. Pete was also preceded in death by a twin brother Dwon Ellis Smith.
He was a truck driver who worked for the Hardeman County Road Department, Shaw’s Concrete, Russell DeBerry, and also was an OTR driver. At the
time of his passing, he was owner/operator of JES Farms Trucking. His family says if it had a steering wheel, he would drive it.
In his spare time, Pete enjoyed boating, fishing, building motors, and working on cars. He also spent many hours building antique model cars building a large collection over the years.
He leaves four children, John Shaw of Jackson, Jessica Shaw of Jackson, Casey Herman of Selmer, and Carrie Smith of Selmer; his mother, Mable Hopper, of Bolivar; his sister, Priscilla Stanford, and her fiancé, O’Neal Escue, of Henderson; and six grandchildren, Dwon Woods, Arianna Sticklin, Ahnalle Shaw, Addison Smith, Bella Herman, and Adalynn Smith.
Funeral services will be held at Shackelford’s chapel, 109 Mecklinburg Drive, Bolivar, Tennessee on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 12 p.m. with burial in Walnut Grove cemetery.
