Obituary: John Luellen, Jr.
John Luellen, Jr., 83, of Grand junction passed away at home on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. He was born in Grand Junction on October 12, 1940, to the late John Luellen, Sr. and Alberta Stephens.
His funeral service will be held at New Vision Ministries-Saulsbury on Saturday June 1, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Minister Kenneth Fields in charge of the service.
Burial will be in the Grand Junction Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home is in charge of the professional service.
He confessed a hope in Jesus Christ at a young age and joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in the Hardeman County public schools and attended LeMoyne-Owen College (Memphis). He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was honorably discharged.
He relocated to East Chicago (EC), IN and worked with Inland Steel. He was later employed with the EC fire department where he retired as Chief Inspector.
After retirement he relocated to Grand Junction.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris Robinson and Roberta Richardson; one son, Demetrius Luellen; two special others, Linda Luellen and Evette Millender.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Johneen (Darnell) Hogan and Ebony (Samuel) Reed; three sons, Jeff daugherty, Dontavious Millender and David Pugh; three sisters, Christine (JC) Gibbs, Denise Luellen and Beverly Watkins; five brothers, Mark (Harold), Herbert Earl, Steve (Nichole), Michael and Arthur (LA Dean) Lullen; several grandchildren, other relatives and friends that will miss him.
