Obituary: Johnnie Sue Glenn
Mrs. Johnnie Sue Glenn departed this life on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at NHC of Somerville.
A native of Hardeman County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Young and Elizabeth Louise Kirby Young. On April 7, 1948, she married Mr. Alvin West Glenn with their marriage lasting for 60 years until his passing on January 25, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Jean Glenn; a sister, Louise Marsh; and five brothers, James, Neely, Lofton, Eugene, and Odell Young.
Mrs. Glenn lived in Gary, Indiana for 20 years before returning to live in Hardeman County in 1980. She had worked for Sullivan Manufacturing, making Christmas trees, and also, at Harmon Automotive. Mrs. Glenn was a member of the Bolivar Church of God.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed canning and traveling to just about any destination. It did not matter to her where, she was always ready to go. Most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her family including and especially all her grandchildren.
Chapel services will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 4 p.m. with the burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery at Toone.
She is survived by four daughters, Martha Sue Glenn, Mary Ann Gomez, and Melinda Jean Brewer, all of Toone and, Marilyn Moller of Griffith, Indiana; six grandchildren, Cris (Jeff) Hill of Bolivar, Craig (Tiffany) Brewer of Williston, Erica (Clay) Maxwell of Bath Springs, Michael Brewer of Somerville, Joe (Karen) Gomez of Jackson, and Trista Martin; sixteen great-grandchildren, Kameryn, Chelsea, Weston, Olivia, James A., Cannon, Colby, Dakota, Alayna, Alex, Charlie, Rylee, Callen, Knox, Logan, and Crew; and two great-great-grandchildren, Raylan and Truett.
