Kathy Cherrie Walker ~ September 26, 1978 – April 24, 2023 (age 44)
Kathy Cherrie Walker, 44, of Memphis passed away suddenly on Monday, April 24, 2023. She was born in Memphis on September 26, 1978, to Johnnie and Essie Parram Walker.
Her funeral service was held at Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Melvin Jones in charge on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1 p.m. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.
At age 11, Kathy professed a hope in Jesus Christ and joined Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active member. She later joined Olivet Baptist Church and Victory in Christ Christian Church (both in Memphis). Kathy worked in the women’s ministry and several other activities.
She was employed with the University of Memphis Health Science College under the leadership of Dr. Richard Bloomer.
Kathy was educated in the Hardeman County public schools and at the University of Memphis where she received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree. Her goal was to obtain a doctorate degree.
She had an infectious smile and vibrant spirit that affected everyone with whom she came in contact. Kathy had a very positive personality.
Kathy leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Maliya Conway; her parents; and many other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
