Obituary: Kathy Vaughan Parsons

Kathy Vaughan Parsons ~ January 9, 1956 – February 11, 2025 (age 68)

Kathy Vaughan Parsons, 68, of Bolivar, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Bolivar General Hospital. 

Born on Monday, January 9, 1956, she was a native of Bolivar and lived most of her life here except for short periods in Memphis, Pittsburgh, and Louisville. She was the daughter of the late Raymond ‘St. Louis’ Vaughan and Mary Frances Cox Vaughan and was a member of Shandy Baptist Church. A lover of antiques, Kathy enjoyed refinishing old furniture and reading in her leisure time.

Her work experience led her from being employed by Hardeman County Vision Center just out of high school to working for Reichold Chemicals in Grand Junction and, also for the University of Pittsburgh, while she was living there. Kathy spent 12 years as a loan review officer for First South Bank and at the Bank of Bolivar (now CB&S Bank) for 10 years.

Graveside services will be at Shandy Cemetery on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 4 p.m. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar is in charge of the arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Tim Parsons, whom she married on November 11, 2011, of Bolivar; four sisters, Ramona Jaggars of Hornsby, Jan Rickman of Bolivar, Tina Young (Ronnie) of Adamsville, and Pam Colvett (Chris) of Lexington, Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Jeff and Bo Jaggars, Stephanie and Jonathan Rickman, Angie Horton, Shane and Clay Young, April Cross, and Sarah Lunsford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ronnie Jaggars. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or The Warriors Center, 214 North Water Street, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008.
